Mrs. Sonja Louise Berger Davis, 86. of Hagerstown, fondly known as “Soni”, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, July 24, 2024, at Williamsport Retirement Village. She was the wife of Mr. Robert Lee Davis, her husband of 46 years.
Born on July 24, 1938, at home in Hagerstown, near Leitersburg, she a daughter of the late Ralph Edward and Emma Rebecca Hartman Berger. She graduated in 1956 from Hagerstown High School; and in 1962 from Bridgewater College, Virginia.
For well over 30 years, Mrs. Davis was an elementary school teachers having served in Virginia, Montgomery County and Washington County Maryland Public School Systems. Before retiring, she taught at Conococheague Elementary School.
She was a member of Longmeadow Church of the Brethren, Hagerstown, and had previously been active with Washington Square United Methodist Church, also of Hagerstown.
Mrs. Davis was an active member in Alpha Delta Kappa, a sorority for women educators.
She enjoyed music, reading, traveling, taking photographs, and scrapbooking.
Surviving, besides her husband, are siblings, Shirley Leatherman and husband Luther “Bud” of Hagerstown, Barbara Ritter of Matthews, North Carolina, and Donald Berger and wife Diane of Chambersburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by brothers Richard and Robert Berger.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral on Tuesday, July 30, at 1:00 PM. Rev. Paul N. Leatherman, III, will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
