Sharon Black, 71, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was the cherished daughter of the late Jean P. (Bumbaugh) and Kenneth O. Black. Sharon is survived by her faithful and devoted life partner of 27 years, Keith Reeves; her loving daughter, Sherry Sites; her supportive and loving siblings: Patricia Maun, (husband Doug), Cristy Morrow, Michael Black, David Black, (wife Dawn) and Kelly Black. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Stephanie Maun, Joel, Crystal, and Clayton Morrow, Kenneth, Nathan, and Nicole Black, and her great-nephews and niece: Jase, Joshua, and AvaLyn. Sharon spent her final days surrounded by the warmth and comfort of her closest friends and family – a testament to the deep connections she forged throughout her life. For over two decades before her retirement she worked as an assembler and administrative assistant at Gates Corporation in Chambersburg. Prior to that, for nearly 20 years, she was a seamstress at J. Schoeneman (Stanley Co.) in Chambersburg. In the past, Sharon could often be spotted in several parades proudly supporting her daughter in marching bands as a "Marching Mom". She was even spotted in a bed once being pushed down Main Street, Chambersburg, in a race to raise money for her daughter’s marching corp. When she wasn’t, in some way, supporting her family and friends she could be found taking pictures of birds in her back yard, looking for deer and elk upstate, or sitting in the family pavilion planning the next family gathering where there was sure to be candy scrambles and lots of games for the kids (big and small). Sharon will be sorrowfully missed by all that knew her. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter. A heartfelt celebration of her life will be held at the family property on Sollenberger Road in Chambersburg on October 11, 2025, at a time yet to be determined where loved ones will gather to share memories, honor her spirit, and find solace in each other’s company.
