Ruth M. Lehman, 97, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at her home. Born May 11, 1927, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Ida Martin Frey. Her beloved husband, Aldus M. Lehman, whom she married on April 12, 1949, preceded her in death on October 11, 2001.
Ruth dedicated herself and her life to making a home for her family. She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Chambersburg. Ruth had an amazing love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passions included sewing, crocheting, sewing quilt patches, quilting, volunteering with the Cumberland Valley Relief Center and her church life.
She is survived by seven children, Ivan Lehman (Joyce) of VA, Merle Lehman (Joyce) of Chambersburg, J. Allen Lehman (Laura) of Chambersburg, Ralph Lehman (Joanna) of St. Thomas, Kevin Lehman (Cheryl) of Chambersburg, Eldon Lehman (Penny) of Chambersburg, and Elta Brouse (Grant) of Chambersburg; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by two siblings, Mabel Frey and J. Earl Frey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Eric Lehman will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. The family would like to thank Grane Hospice for the wonderful care they provided during Ruth’s last days.
