Ruth A. Barnhart, age 67, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at her home. Born April 14, 1958, in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Betty Hornbaker Armstrong.
Mrs. Barnhart was a homemaker for most of her life. She cherished time spent with her loving family and friends. She enjoyed crafts, painting, fishing, going to the casino, and playing bingo with her daughter.
Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Lennis E. Barnhart; a daughter, Mellodie M. Barnhart of Waynesboro, PA; a sister, Patricia Hart (husband Richard) of Greencastle, PA; a half-brother, Gary Mason; and a brother-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Commer of Pinesburg, MD; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Commer.
A celebration of life with be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 1 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Ms. Dot Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cancer Care Associates of York, 25 Monument Rd., Suite 294, York, PA 17403.
