Mr. Ronald L. “Sonny” Welsh, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 28, 1941 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Ambrose C. and Rethea M. (Moats) Welsh.
He and his wife, Christine A. (Armstrong) Welsh, were married on February 20, 2009.
Sonny worked at Frick Company, Waynesboro, Victor Cullen in Sabillasville, MD and Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jeffery L. Welsh of Waynesboro and Cindy S. Sites, of Beaverdale, PA; five grandchildren, Jeffery Welsh, Jr., Desiree Welsh, Audriana Freeman, Amber Schaeffer and Randy Welsh; eight great-grandchildren, Marley Bolin, Lyra Bolin, Aeowyn Thomas, Hezekiah Schaeffer, Zyana Schaeffer, Zariah Schaeffer, Zayla Freeman and Roland Welsh; one great-great-grandson, Tyson Schaeffer; two sisters, Bernice Koons and Betty Sites, both of Quincy, PA; one brother, Tim Welsh of Quincy; Claudia “Sis” Tallent of Zullinger, PA whom he raised; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Welsh and Ronald Welsh; an infant daughter, Susan Welsh; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 27, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Mr. Glenn Hykes officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.
