Mr. Ronald E. Barnes, 82, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 in Wellspan Waynesboro Hospital.

Born August 28, 1942 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Clara (Walter) Barnes.

Mr. Barnes was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1960. He completed his apprenticeship with Landis Tool Company in 1963 and then with Mack Truck in 1971.

He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1964 -1970.

He and his wife, the late Maxine E. (Potter) Barnes, were married August 28, 1965. They were together for 57 years when she passed away June 5, 2023.

Mr. Barnes was employed by Landis Tool Company from 1960-1968 and then Mack Trucks, Inc. from 1968 until his retirement in 2007.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Patriot Life Member of National Rifle Association, Waynesboro Fish and Game Association and UAW Local #171.

Mr. Barnes enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, walking, gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by two children, Angela N. Bussard (Joel) of Shady Grove, PA and Duane M. Barnes (Jennifer) of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Jared Andrew Bussard, Jacob Max Bussard and Makenzie Sophia Barnes; four sisters, Mary Ann Imes of Waynesboro, Roxann Black and Ella Starr, both of State Line, PA and Paula Barnes of St. Thomas, PA; three brothers, P. Jeffrey Barnes and Lee R. Barnes, both of Greencastle, PA and Donald G. Barnes of McCook, Nebraska; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Owen Thomas Barnes, twin brother of Makenzie; sister, Peggy Stine; and brother, James E. Barnes.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2025 in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA with Pastor John Scahill officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Friday morning, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
