Mr. Robert Clarence “Bob” Shrader, 81, of Hagerstown, died Friday evening, August 18, 2017, at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Mrs. Betty Jane Shrader.
Born September 4, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Roy Alexander and Elizabeth Anna Diffendafer Shrader.
Bob worked for Shenandoah’s Pride Dairy for 50 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. He was also a member of the Teamsters, Local 992, Hagerstown.
Bob very much loved his family and spending time with them. A favorite was to attend events that his great grandchildren were participating in. He also enjoyed traveling, sitting on his front porch, and horse racing; something he has enjoyed since being a youngster. As a young man, Bob would help with the horses at the Charles Town Racetrack, West Virginia.
Surviving, besides his wife, are his children, Elizabeth Shrader of Hagerstown, Debra J. Rogers of Williamsport, Roy A. Shrader of Hampton, Virginia, and Christie L. Pleasant and Michele M. Gladhill, both of Hagerstown; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Lushbaugh and Diane Thompson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth I. Rickett; and siblings, Roy Alvey, Harry “Bill”, and Glen C.W. Shrader, Thelma Newlin, Betty June Shrader, and an infant sister.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Tuesday, August 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will begin on Wednesday, August 23, at 11:00 AM, at Evangel Baptist Church, 17922 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown with Rev. Carl W. Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
