Mr. Robert G. Reynolds, 95, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born November 19, 1930 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Chester M. and Ruth (Gilbert) Reynolds.
He attended the Waynesboro Area School System graduating with the Class of 1950.
Bob served in the United States Army Signal Corp. during the Korean War. He attended signal school at Fort Gordon, GA in 1952. He was stationed in Pirmasens & Hanau, Germany with the 512th Signal Base Maintenance Company, in the Army of the Occupation of Germany from January 1, 1953 to March 25, 1954. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal.
He and his wife the late Betty E. (Delauter) Reynolds, were married November 12, 1952. Mrs. Reynolds passed away October 23, 2019.
Bob was employed by the United Telephone Co. of PA. He was an installer-repairman technician. He retired January 1, 1986 after more than 35 years of service.
He was a life member of Mechanics Steam Fire Engine and Hose Co. #1 where he served as chairman of the building committee on the engine and social room addition, four years as company fire Lieutenant and received the Mechanics Fireman of the Year Award in 1988. He also served on other fire department committees and participated in many of the fire dept. minstrel shows.
He also was a member of Cumberland Valley Fireman’s Association, Christ United Methodist Church (currently Faith in Christ UMC) and Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, both of Waynesboro, life member of Antietam Humane Society, Waynesboro and National AARP. Bob also served on the Board of Directors of Harbaugh Church Cemetery Association for 15 years.
He enjoyed camping and he loved to canoe. He also collected antiques and enjoyed going to public sales. He liked to do wood work in his workshop. He collected tootsie toys, did stain glass projects and enjoyed acrylic painting of historic buildings and landscapes.
Bob is survived by nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends, including his care givers, Jan, Stephanie, Norma, Leah, Carolina, Nadia and Nichole.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Bob’s loved ones also want to extend their gratitude to Franklin County Hospice for the wonderful care Bob received.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Karl Herman and Pastor David Deatrich officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Saturday morning, in the funeral home.
