Robert E. “Bob” Herbert, 88, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Born on May 17, 1938, in Lewistown, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Alma (Brent) Herbert.
Those who knew Bob will remember him for the simple pleasures that brought him happiness throughout his life. He greatly enjoyed listening to music and had a keen interest in photography. His greatest passion, however, was radios. Bob amassed a large collection over the years and spent countless hours tinkering with, repairing, and restoring them. He took great pride in his work and found joy in bringing old radios back to life.
Bob is survived by his beloved sister, Rebecca Hoover of Chambersburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank “Skip” Herbert, David Leonard Herbert, and George Henry Herbert.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg.
