Robert Edgar Cline, Sr., 79, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born May 14, 1945 in Greencastle, PA, he was a son of the late Guy E. and Catherine L. Shrader Cline.
Early in his life, he was a self-employed truck driver and drove all over the country. He was later employed as truck driver for Nitterhouse Concrete for many years and most recently with C. William Hetzer, Inc. in Hagerstown until his retirement. Robert was a member of Ebenezer United Brethren Church and the St. Thomas Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. He enjoyed hunting, traveling to the shops and Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA, watching NASCAR and Penn State.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita A. Brown Cline, whom he married on February 12, 1966; one son, Ronald Cline and wife Karla of Canal Winchester, OH; four grandchildren, Jeriah, Aaron, Smantha, and Gideon Cline; two nephews, Brett and Berkley Cline and one niece, Cherry Shives. Aside from his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Cline, Jr. in 2020; and two brothers, Guy and Paul Cline.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Road, Greencastle, PA 17225. Pastor Josh Lance will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
