Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Brinkley, 81, of Funkstown, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Mertius Medical Center, Hagerstown. He was the husband of Mrs. Thelma L. Brinkley, his wife of 6 years.
Born November 12, 1931, in Frederick he was a son of the late William Edward and Virginia May Barrow Brinkley.
Bob was employed with P.T. O’Malley Lumber Company, Baltimore; and with Hampton Inn, Hagerstown.
He was a member of the Goodwill Athletic Club, Hagerstown.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three step-children; sixteen grandchildren; as well as siblings Connie L. Rohrer of Hagerstown, Virginia M. Zimmerman of Martinsburg, WV, Franklin E. Brinkley of Boonsboro, and Thomas H. Brinkley of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two stepchildren, and brothers William S. and Jack W. Brinkley.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 11, 11:00 AM, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, 1253 Mt. Aetna Road, Hagerstown, with Bishop Gregory A. Harman officiating. The family will receive friends at the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, from 6:00 to 8:00 on Sunday evening.
Interment will be Tuesday, November 12, 11:00 AM, in Oak Lawn Cemetery, 7225 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore.
