Ricky Lee Shannon, 64, of Williamsburg, VA peacefully and triumphantly returned to his Savior on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Born October 25, 1959 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Richard E. “Dick” and Rhoda L. (Meyers) Shannon. 

He was a graduate of James Buchanan High School with the Class of 1977. Rick then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in business from Shippensburg University in 1981. After graduation he was employed by JCPenney in various positions. Upon relocating to Virginia in 1999, he became self-employed for a number of years before accepting a position with the Department of the Army. Rick thoroughly enjoyed his current position as Division Chief/Contracting Officer for MICC Fort Eustis.

Rick attended Foundations Church in Williamsburg, VA and was a member of the men’s small group bible study. He enjoyed spending free time and vacationing with family. He was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts while guiding his boys to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Rick was also very involved in his children’s sports. He helped coach their youth teams and was always their number one fan. 

He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann (Reath) Shannon; three children, Austin Shannon of Charles Town, WV, Carley (Shannon) Kessler (husband Nathan) of Frederick, MD, and Dylan Shannon of Williamsburg, VA; three siblings, Rose (Shannon) Grissinger of St. Thomas, Ronald Shannon (wife Jaylene) of Dillsburg, and Ruth Ann (Shannon) Frey (husband Dean) of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Mission Hill Church, 465 Center Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Kevin Witter officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday evening in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning in the church.

The family will also hold a Celebration of Life in Williamsburg, VA in the next few weeks.
