Mr. Richard L. “Dick” Warner, 79, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Born April 9, 1947 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Boyd E. and L. Helen (Mayer) Warner.

Mr. Warner was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1966 where he excelled in cross country, track & field and wrestling.

Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served a one-year tour in Vietnam as a Huey crew chief and door gunner.

He and his wife, the late Mrs. Patricia A. (Rowe) Warner, were married October 11, 1971. They shared 48 years together when Mrs. Warner passed away October 4, 2019.

A lifelong mechanic, Mr. Warner worked alongside his father at Stouffer’s Garage for a number of years, then at Brake Pontiac and Cadillac for several years and at Lynn Chevrolet for 24 years. Prior to his retirement December 20, 2008, he was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for five years.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 of Greencastle, PA, Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Owls Club, Inc., Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1191 and life member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, all of Waynesboro.

Mr. Warner is survived by two sons, Todd M. Warner and his wife, Nicole and Matthew D. Warner; seven grandchildren, Tyler Warner (Erin), Ashley Civiero (Angelo), Gillian Warner (Brett), Victoria Shorb (Camden), Isaac Warner (JoHannah), Lexie Walizer (Tesher) and Mattie Warner; nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Ella and Isaiah Warner, Elijah and Rosie Civiero, Asher and Scarlet Warner and Nadya and Soren Shorb; and a host of extended family and friends.

A time to honor his life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 Noon with military graveside honors conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Chambersburg beginning at 1:00 P.M. A time for sharing memories will begin immediately following the honors ceremony.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

The family wishes to invite those back to their home located at 618 Maple Street, Waynesboro for refreshments and a time of sharing.
