Mrs. Phyllis Jean (Price) Hammaker, 92, a resident of Quincy Village, Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Burnsville, NC, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Hollidaysburg, PA passed away Wednesday evening, October 23, 2024, in the nursing home.
Born July 25, 1932 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Maude A. (Hall) Price. She lived her early life in the Hollidaysburg area.
Mrs. Hammaker graduated from Hollidaysburg High School with the Class of 1950.
She and her husband, the late William K. Hammaker, were married on April 18, 1951 in Hollidaysburg, PA at the Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Hammaker passed away on April 21, 2016.
Mrs. Hammaker was a homemaker and a devoted Christian woman.
She was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren and enjoyed knitting for Samaritan Purse and various local charities, reading and cooking. She was also a member of church choirs in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Weaverville, NC, for approximately 35 years.
She is survived by four children, Dennis Hammaker (wife Carol), Carol Jordan (husband Daniel), David Hammaker (wife Barbara) and Steve Hammaker (wife Margaret); six grandchildren, Daniel Hammaker (wife Whitney), Andrew Hammaker (wife Krista), Matthew Hammaker (wife Miranda), David Hammaker (wife Kimberly), Benjamin Hammaker (wife Kimberly) and Rachel Hammaker; five great-grandchildren, Lynlee, Henry, Trace, Jonathan and Theodore; one sister, Marilyn Means; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Piper and Shirley Pekar; and four brothers, Wayne Price, Robert Price, Leonard Price and Sheldon Price.
Services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2024 in The Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Andrew Paterno officiating. Burial will be private in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, PA.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M., Monday morning, in the church.
