Mrs. Peggy Louise (Kendle) Helfrick, 81, of Greencastle, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in her home.

Born November 24, 1943, in Bino, PA, she was one of sixteen children born to the late Albert and Mary (Kuhn) Kendle.

She married the love of her life, John C. Helfrick, Sr. on July 28, 1961, while standing in the home in which they’ve lived since 1976. John passed away October 2, 2018, after 57 years of marriage.

Peggy was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker while her kids were at home. She then was the CFO for Precision Manufacturing and Engineering for multiple decades, retiring in 2018.

She was a lifelong active member of Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg, PA, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed doing crosswords and was an avid reader. Her favorite read was the Holy Bible, and she also enjoyed murder mysteries. Many have enjoyed a slice of one of her delicious pies. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children: John C. Helfrick, Jr, and his wife, Vivian, of San Diego, CA, Carla Harbaugh and her husband, Brian, of Greencastle, PA, Rodney Helfrick and his wife, Mary, of Mercersburg, PA and David Helfrick, of Greencastle, PA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six siblings and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings and a daughter-in-law, Tan-My Do.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, 6727 Montgomery Church Rd., Mercersburg, PA with Pastor Japheth Nell officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
