Mr. Paul R. “Sonny” Gladhill, Sr., 86, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Monday morning, June 9, 2025, surrounded by his family, in his home.
Born June 11, 1938 in Fairfield, PA, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Eva (Lewis) Gladhill.
Mr. Gladhill graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1957.
He and his wife of over 67 years, A. Lorraine (Gearhart) Gladhill, were married on November 30, 1957, in Sabillasville, MD.
Mr. Gladhill owned and operated Gladhill’s Garage in Blue Ridge Summit, PA, for over 25 years. He also worked as a diesel mechanic in Tucson, AZ for over 20 years.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro and he was formerly a member of Waynesboro Bible Church, Open Door Church in Chambersburg, PA and Sun and Shield Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ. At all of the churches, Sonny was active in driving the church bus to help members get to church activities.
Sonny’s lifelong passion was working on and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially yearly family vacations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Theresa Rock of Waynesboro, Paul R. Gladhill, Jr. of Fairfield, PA, Travis E. Gladhill of Waynesboro and David L. Gladhill of Hudson, FL; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Catherine Borne of Blue Ridge Summit, Laura Toms of Waynesboro, Marilyn Eshelman of Waynesboro and Tim Gladhill of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA with Pastor John Scahill officiating. Burial will follow in Jacob’s Church Cemetery, Fairfield, PA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.
