Mrs. Patricia Ann (Cox) Shuff, 82, of Smithsburg, MD passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 in Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD after an extended illness.

Born June 15, 1942 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Cox, Sr. and Helen A. (Ferguson) Cox.

Mrs. Shuff was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

Throughout her working career, she was employed by several local business including Regency Thermographers, G.C. Murphy’s Department Store which later became Ames Department Store and Tab Books which transitioned to McGraw Hill. Prior to her retirement in 2004, she was a longtime employee of First Data.

Mrs. Shuff was a member of Church of the Transfiguration Episcopal Church, Blue Ridge Sportsman’s where she served as the membership chair for 10 years, South Mountain Road and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary and Thurmont AmVets Ladies Auxiliary.

In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her friends on scooters. Together the logged hundreds of miles all along the East coast. An avid reader, she also liked to pass the time with a good book.

Mrs. Shuff is survived by two children, Richard A. Shearer, Jr. of Zullinger and Melinda K. Brown and her husband, David of Blue Ridge Summit; three grandsons, Joshua Brown, Steven Brown (Nicole) and Kevin Brown (Misty); seven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Arthur Cox, Jr. (Ellen) of Blue Ridge Summit, Mary Ellen Dean (Ellis) of Virginia and Leta Harbaugh of Hagerstown; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charles Junior Shuff who passed away May 6, 2004; and her longtime companion, Arthur Lewis, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, January 31, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Services will be private with burial in Brown’s Cemetery, near Foxville, MD.
