Mr. Nelson E. Kauffman, Sr., 84, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, in Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA.

Born May 23, 1941, in South Mountain, PA, he was the son of the late Leo R. and Kathlyn M. (Strang) Kauffman.

Mr. Kauffman graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1959.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1959 until 1968.

He and his wife, Janet I. (Printz) Kauffman were married March 5, 1968, in Mont Alto United Methodist Church, Mont Alto, PA.

Mr. Kauffman held various jobs throughout his life. He was employed at Knouse Foods for over 30 years where he served as a line mechanic.

He was a member of South Mountain Bible Church, and the Fairfield Amvets Post 172. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and drawing diagrams of floorplans for houses and performing construction work.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Kauffman is survived by his children, Nelson Kauffman Jr., of South Mountain, Stephen Kauffman of York Haven, PA, Wendy Swartz and her husband Travis of Fannettsburg, PA, and Mark Kauffman and his wife Rhonda of Amberson, PA; 5 grandchildren, Kayla Sostar, Wesley Swartz, Megan Swartz, Natalie Kauffman, and Jacob Kauffman; 5 great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Lillian, Lakyn, Laynee, and Cohen; and one sister, Constance “Connie” Voss.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 29, 2025, in South Mountain Bible Church, 11275 S. Mountain Road, Fayetteville with Pastor Colin Morley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain where military honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Monday morning, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Kauffman’s honor may be made to South Mountain Bible Church, 11275 South Mountain, Road, Fayetteville, PA 17222.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
