Mrs. Mossie M. (Baker) Sites, 98, an 8 year resident of Providence Place, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Fillmore Drive, Chambersburg, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Menno Haven Rehabilitation, Chambersburg.

Born December 1, 1925 in Pine Mountain, KY, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Maude (Turner) Baker. She lived her early life in Kentucky.

Mrs. Sites graduated from Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1946.

She and her husband, the late Bishop Wilber L. Sites, Jr., were married on November 29, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD. Bishop Sites died on December 28, 2010.

In her early life, Mrs. Sites worked at the Mount Pleasant United Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg. She later did clerical work at the Chambersburg Hospital, was a machine operator at Stanley Company, Chambersburg, was a clerk at Plasterer’s Florist, Chambersburg and helped her husband at various churches, as well as at Jamaica Bible College and with UB Global in Macau.

She was a member of Salem United Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg. She was a long time Sunday School teacher, member and past president of Women’s Missionary Fellowship of the Mid-Atlantic Conference, and was International President of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship.

Mrs. Sites enjoyed art – especially painting, flowers and spending time visiting with her great-grandchildren. She loved Jesus, was quick to share the Gospel with others and she was affectionately known as the Mayor of Providence Place.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy A. Baker (Mike) of Hagerstown, MD and Linda S. Etter (Donnie) of Chambersburg; one son, Rev. Dennis A. Sites (Annette) of New Milton, WV; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Bumbaugh of Shippensburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant great-grandson, Carson Etter; six brothers, Otis Baker, Dennis Baker, Berry Baker, Rastus Baker, Bill Baker and John Baker; and two sisters, Mabel Frederick and Mildred Wilder.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 10, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with her son, Rev. Dennis A. Sites and Chaplain Rick Ritenour officiating. Burial will be private in Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery, Guilford Township, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Friday morning, in the funeral home.
