Michael W. “Mike” Carey, age 67, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 20, 1957, he was the son of Hilda Seville Carey and the late John Eldon Carey.
Mike was a 1976 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He worked as a machinist at Mack Truck, Letterkenny Army Depot, and JLG. He was last employed at the former Talhelm’s Gas Station in Greencastle. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and woodworking. He was a member of the Mercersburg Sportsman’s Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Stephanie Branham Carey, whom he married on July 25, 1992; three brothers, Rodney Carey (wife Holly) of Waynesboro, PA, Timothy “Tim” Carey (wife Cindy) of Waynesboro, PA, and Kevin Carey of Greencastle, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Misty.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
