Melvin Funk, 76, of Mercersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 peacefully in his home. Born June 6, 1948 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Jenneatte (Pittman) Funk.
Melvin was a devoted husband and a loving father. Before graduating Melvin met his wife of 57 years Beverly at a school dance. They fell in love and married. Following graduation Melvin went to work for Foremost Industries as a carpenter for his adult life retiring after 42 years.
Melvin enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and hunting, which all the boys would go with him. He loved being together with his whole family.
In addition to his wife, Beverly (Spangler) Funk, he is survived by his three sons, Todd Funk (Michele) of Mercersburg, Jason Funk (Tracy) of Harrisonville, PA, Jamie Funk (Maria) of Shippensburg; two brothers; John Funk (Terry) of Chambersburg, Daryl Funk (Linda) of Mercersburg; a sister, Penny Egolf of Mercersburg, five grandsons; Joshua Funk (Heather) of Chambersburg, Austin Funk of Martinsburg WV, Walker Funk of Harrisonville PA, Logan Funk of Shippensburg, Cole Funk (fiancé Sharaki Jones) of Durham NC; a granddaughter; Alexis Funk of Shippensburg; three step-grandchildren, Andrew Shreiner of South Carolina, Wyatt Thorne of Shippensburg, and Abigail Gaydosh of Baltimore, MD; two great grandchildren, Abigail Funk and Baylor Shreiner.
Melvin is preceded in death by seven siblings, Russell, Leroy, Paul, Ted, Harold “Dick”, and Marty Funk, and Druscilla Seville.
There will be visitation one hour prior to a private memorial service that will be held at SimpleChoice Cremation Services Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
