Mrs. Mary Jean “Jean” Boyle, 89, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.

Born February 12, 1935 in Summerhill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Wilson) Lang.

Jean graduated from Johnstown High School with the Class of 1953.

She and her husband, the late John “Jack” Boyle, Jr., were married August 24, 1957 in Johnstown, PA. They were together for 53 years when he passed away April 20, 2011.

Mrs. Boyle worked as a short order cook at Joe Stickell American Legion Post # 15, Waynesboro for a number of years.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Waynesboro Lioness Club.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Boyle cherished time spent with her family. She especially enjoyed meeting her family for lunch, taking trips to the beach, shopping and attending baseball games. Mrs. Boyle was also an avid bowler, having bowled in a ladies league for many years.

She is survived by four children, Patrick R. Boyle and his wife, Beth, Kathleen A. Gochenour, Mary A. Welsh and Joan E. Ditch and her husband, Derek, all of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, Randy, Darien, Casey & Eli; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Lang of Garland, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Eleanor Snyder; and brothers, Alex, James, William, Thomas and Joseph Lang; and two sons-in-law.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Randy Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
