On the 18th day of August, 2024, Mary Elizabeth Perry, “Betty”, died at, the not quite old age of, 99 years. Known by those close to her as Liz and Betty, she was born on February 15, 1925 in Carrolltown, PA to the late Irvin James and Mary Ethelend Bearer. She moved to Fayetteville, PA after high school for work at which time she met her soon to be husband, Jere. They were married 72 years before he passed, a long time to be married to one man. A wonderful man she missed until the day she died.

She spent much of her life working at home and volunteering. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, baking, sharing, writing letters, practicing her spirituality, chatting on the phone, and reminiscing about her early life in Carrolltown with her dad, mom, siblings, and her grandma Rose. Perhaps most of her time however was taken up worrying about the wellbeing of her family and friends.

Her granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and friends hurt very much at her leaving, miss her dearly, and will hold tight to the pleasant memories they created together, perhaps especially in her last year with us.

On behalf of Betty, we would like to thank all the kind and caring nursing staff who worked at Spirit Trust Luther Ridge nursing home and who spent time with and took care of Betty in her last months and days.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Fr. Allan Wolfe will celebrate. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass in the narthex of the church Thursday morning.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (PWSA) at pwsausa.org/get-involved/donate/.
