Mr. Marvin J. Brashear, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

Born on July 15, 1938, in Harrisburg, Illinois, Marvin was the son of the late Harold N. and Beatrice (Froman) Brashear. He graduated from Morgan City High School in Morgan City, Louisiana, with the Class of 1957.

Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the U.S. Navy Department as a carpenter for a year before beginning a long and dedicated career in the private sector. He retired in 2012 from Long Fence Co. in Frederick, MD, where he served as dispatcher and service manager for 15 years.

On May 18, 1963, Marvin married the love of his life, Barbara A. (Lehman) Brashear, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, PA. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage before Barbara’s passing on April 19, 2022.

Marvin was a man of deep faith, a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ, Chambersburg. He was a member of the Chambersburg American Legion and the Williamson Ruritan Club, where he proudly served as president in 1992.

Marvin loved sharing his faith journey with others. In his later years, Marvin created his own ministry as a Christian Storyteller, spreading messages of hope and faith through his talks and self-published books about his walk with God. His creativity extended to carpentry and cabinet making, and he found joy in cooking, solving jigsaw puzzles, and taking peaceful walks in the mountains, always appreciating the beauty of God’s creation.

He is survived by his brother, Nolan C. Brashear and wife Janie of Berwick, Louisiana; two nieces; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; his dear friends, Sharon Keilholtz and Ernie Garland; and his cherished cat, Zoey.

In addition to his wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Curtis “Curt” Brashear (2014); his brother, Myron Brashear; and his sister, Nancy Dunlap.

A graveside service with military honors provided by Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599 will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA, with Pastor Bob Hart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.

Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, PA is handling the arrangements.
