Mrs. Martha Lorraine (Shumaker) Hollinshead, 80, formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Laurel Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
Born April 24, 1944 in Sharpsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Leona (Shoop) Shoemaker.
Mrs. Hollinshead was a graduate of Boonsboro High School with the Class of 1962.
She and her husband of 62 years, Mr. Charles Kenneth “Charlie” Hollinshead, were married July 7, 1962 in Sharpsburg, MD.
Primarily a homemaker, in the early 90’s Martha worked for P&P Brothers doing cleaning at Fort Ritchie. She also would babysit for friends and family.
Mrs. Hollinshead was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church, Waynesboro, PA, where she helped with the Children’s Church and sung on the church choir. In addition to the time she spent at the church, she also enjoys tending to the needs of her two dogs, Sadie, a Pug and Bailey a Maltese.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Michael K. Hollinshead of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Carly, Matthew, Wesley and Allyson; one great-granddaughter, Inara Raine Glaittli; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark A. Hollinshead; two brothers, David E. Shoemaker and Robert Shumaker; one sister, Esther Semler; and an infant sister.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Daryll Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday morning, in the funeral home.
