Mr. Marlin David Benedict, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born January 2, 1939, in Quincy Township, PA, he was the son of the late David H. and Dorothy R. (Martin) Benedict.
He attended Chambersburg schools. He grew up on his family’s farm, learning the value of hard work. He also worked for other farmers in the area. In 1965, he moved to Greencastle and worked for Grove Manufacturing for the next 18 years, welding and doing maintenance work. He retired in 1983 and worked as a manager at the Mercersburg Legion and then later worked for Ventura Foods until retiring in 2002.
Marlin was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren NC, Mount Zion Church. He loved being outdoors and found a passion for photography. He enjoyed the companionship of several dogs throughout his life. Marlin will be remembered as easy going and hardworking.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Benedict and two grandchildren: Allexandra N. Benedict and Dyllan E. Wright.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamera Orris who passed away August 8, 2017, and a foster sister, Betty Jane Kurlin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Mount Zion District OGBBC New Conference, 4580 Jack Road, Chambersburg, PA, with Glenn Jamison and Home Brethren officiating. Burial at Browns Mill Cemetery will follow.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
