Marguerite Dentler, age 88, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at her home with her family at her side. Born August 15, 1936, in Ellerslie, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Hazel Porter.
Mrs. Dentler was a seamstress for many years, retiring from the Tannery in Williamsport, MD. She was a member of Greencastle Church of God. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, playing the piano and singing with her husband, Sam for 32 years at local nursing homes.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 44 years, Samuel Dentler, whom she married on February 15, 1980; seven children, Wanda Koons of Waynesboro, PA, George Carbaugh, Jr. (wife Tina) of Waynesboro, PA, Becky Butts (husband Steve) of Fayetteville, PA, Roxanne Patterson (husband Ronald) of Waynesboro, PA, Jock Carbaugh (wife Tammy) of South Mountain, PA, Dustina Gilbert (husband Keith) of Fayetteville, PA, and Johnboy Carbaugh, (wife Jennifer) of Chambersburg, PA; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Lyons of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, in infancy, nine siblings, Rosetta “Toots” Gabrick, Mary Knippenburg, and Chester, Lester, Homer, Elmer, Jerry, Melvin, and Clair Porter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastors Floyd Myers and Mason Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26 from 7 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Friday. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Franklin Hospice and especially to Tara Bricker, Marguerites’s granddaughter, who spent many hours caring for her Grandma during her illness; the family is very much grateful for everything you have done.
