Mrs. Margaret J. “Peg” (Kerstetter) Spangler, 81, a resident of Paramount Senior Living, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the nursing home.
Born September 18, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. Kerstetter, Jr. and Peace Elizabeth (Ankeney) Kerstetter.
She graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1960. She later attended Penn State University, Shippensburg State Teacher’s College, Humboldt Institute and received her Masters Degree from the University of Maryland.
Mrs. Spangler worked as a social worker for the State of Maryland for many years. She was based in Baltimore, MD and Hagerstown, MD. She also helped to run The New Hope Shelter, Waynesboro, for several years.
She was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro and enjoyed playing bingo, dogs and cats.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Spangler (Shelly Stout) of Orrstown, PA, David Spangler (Holly) of Rising Sun, MD; and Michael Spangler (Anita) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Spangler, Jr.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
