Mrs. Madge D. (Stern) Willis, 93, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born September 29, 1932 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Herman C. and Catherine A. (Bacurin) Stern. She lived her early life in the Arlington, VA area.
Mrs. Willis attended Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, VA.
She and her husband, the late Charles A. Willis, were married on June 4, 1949 at Fort Myer in Arlington, VA. Together they resided in Berlin, Germany, Fort Benning, GA, Fort Bliss, TX, Schofield Barracks, HI, and Fort Ritchie, MD. Mr. Willis died on November 16, 2019.
Mrs. Willis worked with the American Red Cross and was a Certified Dental Assistant. In 1993, she trained dental assistants in Moscow, Russia.
She was a member of the National AARP and the Ruby Red Hatters in Waynesboro, PA.
She is survived by four daughters, Susan D. Koogle and her husband, Steve of Frederick, MD, Julie A. Bachtell and her husband, Brian of Waynesboro, Jenifer W. Smith and her husband, Mike of Frederick, MD; and Allison R. Luppino and her husband, Mark of Huntingtown, MD; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mindy Sue Wagaman; one great-grandson, Jamison Bachtell; one sister, Charlotte MacDonald; and one brother, Wayne Sutton.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 13, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Friday morning, in the funeral home.
