Lola Joyce Songer Peiffer, age 91, of Greencastle, PA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD. Born in Williamson, WV on May 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Garnetta Morrison Songer.
Mrs. Peiffer was a 1953 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School. She worked at the former Frick Company from 1954 – 1955 and then as a secretary to Robert Pensinger, State Farm Insurance Company in Greencastle from 1971-1981 and lastly at the Chambersburg Hospital as an office clerk in the Radiology Department from 1983 until her retirement. She was a member of the Waynesboro Bible Church. Mrs. Peiffer enjoyed spending time with family, decorating, baking, gardening and watching old movies on TV.
She is survived by three sons, David Bryan Sullivan (wife Cathy) of Greencastle, PA, Jeffrey Lee Sullivan of Mont Alto, PA, and Gregory Lynn Sullivan of Fayetteville, PA; four grandchildren; step-children, Cheryl Gardenhour (husband Craig), Brenda Bonebrake (husband Blaine), Dennis Peiffer (wife Sharon), Leesa Gates (husband Sam), Marcy Carbaugh (husband Larry), Randy Peiffer, Penny Bertsch (husband Dave), and Becky Stanford (husband Charles). Lola also had 15 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great grandchildren, and 3 step-great, great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Sullivan, whom she married June 5, 1954, and her second husband, Gerald E. Peiffer, whom she married in 1981 and passed away June 9, 2023.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Brown’s Mill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Rd., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
