Mrs. Leona Jeannette “Lee” Skoniecki Janashek, 86, of Rockville, and formerly a resident of Weeki Wachi Spring, Florida, died Sunday morning, August 27, 2017, at Collingswood Nursing Home, Rockville. She was the wife of the late James Frederick “Jim” Janashek, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2009.
Born July 12, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Leo F. and Mildred Gach Skoniecki. Lee moved to Maryland when Jim received a position with the Government Printing Office. She was a stay at home mom for many years and returned to the workforce, starting part-time with Sears, eventually becoming a mid-level manager with them when she retired.
She and Jim moved to Florida, where they traveled, volunteered and, as always, sang in the church choir.
Lee never forgot that she was always God’s hands. Her faith shone through for all to see.
She is survived by 3 children, Lynn Boyd, Neil Janashek and Carol Tardiff; and 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren of whom she was very blessed to have.
Besides her husband and parents, Lee was preceded in death by Thomas Carl Janashek.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements for the family. A memorial service and time of fellowship immediately following will be held Saturday, September 16, beginning at 12:00 PM, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4200 Olney-Laytonsville Road, Olney, Maryland.
Those desiring may offer memorial contributions in Mrs. Janashek’s name to Montgomery County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 401 North Washington Street, Suite 100, Office 121, Rockville, Maryland 20850
