Mr. Lawrence Theodore Upperman, 87, of Hagerstown, died early Wednesday morning, September 30, 2020, at Brookdale Senior Living, Hagerstown.  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Esther Marie Mummert Upperman, his wife of 52 years, who preceded him in death on September 29, 2014.

Born August 12, 1933, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John Leroy, Sr., and Mary Lucy Wolfe Upperman.

Lawrence was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp who served during the Korean War.

Following his military service, Lawrence worked with, until his retirement, M.P. Moller Pipe Organ Company.

Surviving is his step-son, H. Dennis Domer and wife Sandy, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Jodi L. Burcker, Denny L. McCarty, Stacy L. Domer, and Carrie M. McCarty-Perez; two great grandchildren, Norma L. Burcker and Sage N. Halverson; as well as nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Upperman was preceded in death by siblings John Leroy Upperman, Jr, and Marion Ashlock, Ruth Beitler and Phyllis Manzel.

A memorial service will Monday, October 5, 10:00 AM  at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, with Chaplain Volodymyr Grinchenko of Hospice of Washington County officiating.  Military honors will immediately follow and will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and The Marine Corp League of Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Upperman’s name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland  21742.
