Mr. Lauren Lee Stephens, 85 of Halfway, passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020, at his residence.  He was the husband of Mrs. Shirley M. Stephens.

Born March 24, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Susan J. Reel, and his step-father, the late Earl E. Reel.

Lauren graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1954; and was the founder and owner of Stephens Excavating, which he operated for 50 years.

He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 378, Hagerstown; and took great pride of being a member of the Potomac Chapter of the Society of Explosive Engineers.

In addition to his loving wife, Lauren is survived by two children, Pam S. McDonald and husband Arch, and Lauren L. Stephens, II, and wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Sarah E. Mickanis, and husband J. P., and Connor P. Stephens; his great-grandchildren Hannah, Avery and Scarlett Mickanis; as well as by his beloved sister–in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, Thursday, July 23, from 12:00 to 7:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, 127 Bitner Avenue, Williamsport, on Friday, July 24, at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Shawn M. Bushman, pastor of Virginia Avenue Church of God, will officiate.
