Mrs. Kathryn A. (Ryan) Banville, 71, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Sunday morning, June 30, 2024 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.
Born May 15, 1953 in Manhattan, New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah Ryan and Anne (Dolan) Moore. She grew up in Bronx, NYC and later moved to New Jersey.
She graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, NJ with the Class of 1971. She later graduated from Frederick Community College in 1980 as a Dental Assistant.
Kathryn served with the United States Army Reserves from 1977-1988.
She and her husband, the late Kenneth J. “Kenny” Banville, were married on March 3, 1974. Mr. Banville died on January 3, 1996.
Kathryn, along with her husband and son, Steven travelled extensively throughout Europe when her husband was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. They later moved to Fort Ritchie, Cascade, MD and settled in Waynesboro, PA.
She was a certified dental assistant in General Dentistry with additional credentials to include the fields of orthodontics and oral surgery. She worked in various dental offices until her husband’s accident. Following his accident, she cared for him for 10 years.
Kathryn loved to travel and her two favorite places were Wildwood, NJ and Walt Disney World. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, relaxing at her backyard pool and playing with her lab mix Demma. She was known for her sense of humor, compassion for others and her love and dedication to her husband, Kenny.
She is survived by one son, Steven Banville (Wanda) of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Shannon Provard (Tyler) and Stacy Weber (Ryan); five great-grandchildren, Hailee Weber, Westin Weber, Levi Provard, Alec Provard and Raef Provard; one sister, Anne Ryan of Waynesboro; two brothers, George Moore (Judy Martin) of Waynesboro and Thomas Moore (Donna) of Upper Strausburg, PA; one niece, Erin Vieira; and one nephew, Patrick Moore.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Ryan; and her sister-in-law, Penny Fickes.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
