Karl Henry Smith, Sr., age 94, of Waynesboro, PA passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Waynesboro Hospital. Born January 25, 1930 in Mont Alto, PA he was the son of the late Paul R. and Alma Cluck Smith. He is preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Grieve and four brothers, Paul R. Smith Jr., Galen E. Smith, Gilmore C. Smith and Robert D. Smith. 

Karl graduated from of Quincy High School in 1948 and attended Penn State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, served honorably during the Korean War and continued his service in the Navy Reserve. He worked at DESCOM at Letterkenny Army Depot as a Computer Specialist, retiring in 1987. Upon retirement from Letterkenny, he worked for over 20 years at Hampton Inn in Chambersburg, PA as a night auditor and took full advantage of the employee discount during his many travels across the U.S. He was a member of the Quincy United Methodist Church, George Washington Lodge #143, George Washington Royal Arch Chapter #176, Continental Commandery #56, George Washington Council #66, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Zembo Temple, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Erin Council Knight Masons #6, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, Franklin County Shrine Club, Elks, American Legion, VFW and Military Order of the Cooties. He enjoyed traveling (taking over 60 cruises in his lifetime), spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening, playing cards and games (winning more than his fair share) and always willing to add a helping hand to others. 

Surviving are two sons, Karl H. Smith, Jr. and Thomas M. Smith and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. 

Services and interment in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
