Mrs. Julia R. (Rook) Wagaman, 85, of Greencastle, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 20, 2026 in WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

Born November 15, 1940 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late David S. and Edna C. (Hahn) Rook.

Mrs. Wagaman attended Waynesboro schools graduating from Quincy High School with the Class of 1957.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Bennett R. Wagaman, Sr., were married December 7, 1957. They were together for over 60 years when he passed away June 3, 2018.

At a young age, Mrs. Wagaman was a seasonal worker for orchards in the local area. She later dedicated 34 years of service to Stickell’s General Store in Upton and then was the manager at Frontier Western Wear in Fort Loudon for 4 years. She retired in 2002 to help care for her husband.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Wagaman treasured time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to Tennessee and trips to the beach as well as weekends spent camping over the course of 40 years. She liked to pass the time with a book, birdwatching, doing Sudoku puzzles or painting pictures on her tablet. She never passed up an opportunity to play BINGO or to go shopping and was known to enjoy a meal out on occasion.

Mrs. Wagaman is survived by five children, Bennett R. Wagaman, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Greencastle, Cindy Wagaman Hagewood of Chambersburg, James E. Wagaman of Greencastle, Greg L. Wagaman of Chambersburg and Crystal E. Clever and her husband, Darren of Greencastle; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends.

She was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Wilson; and one brother, Earl Rook.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 24, 2026 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Greg Helman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.
