John William Furman, 83, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away from this earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, into his eternal home in Heaven on January, 16, 2025. He was born on August 18, 1941, in Sayre, PA, as the son of the late Elmo Furman and Carrie (Hardy) Furman. He is survived by faithful and loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte L. (Long) Furman; daughter Teresa L. Osterman and husband Ronald; son Daron L. Furman and wife Beth; six grandchildren: Erica Medolla and husband Noah, Daron Furman Jr. and wife Sierra, Chance Osterman, Brandon Furman, Seth Furman, and Levi Furman; and one great grandchild on the way. He also is survived by one sister Deloris Wert and husband Jim and one brother Lawrence Furman. John served his Lord and Savior with all his heart, soul and might. He served his country, was in the Vietnam War, Air Force Reserves, worked at Letterkenny Army Depot and Lowes. His favorite Bible verse was Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." He absolutely loved history and reading about it. He loved reading his Bible, spending time with his family, children and grandchildren, going to family gatherings and reunions, going to see new places, out to eat and malls, metal detecting, working in his garden, going on walks, and listening and watching Jimmy Swaggert preach and sing. Professional services are entrusted with Sellers Funeral Home in Chambersburg, PA. Memorial services will be held at Sellers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., a visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in John’s memory to the Jimmy Swaggert Ministries, 8919 World Ministry Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
