SGT. John Edward Reinhardt, 83 Chambersburg PA – January 26, 2026 John (Johnny) was an extremely important person in many lives over the years. After a courageous fight, John found peace. He passed with his loving wife of 37 years, and family by his side. John was a firefighter with Marley Volunteer Fire Company in the early 1960’s out of Glen Burnie, MD, where his travels lead him to the United States Navy out of Norfolk, VA, during the Vietnam War for two years ending his tour as Seaman on the U.S.S. Sussex. John carried on serving for his country as a SGT. with the Army National Guard out of Ellicott City, MD, for a total of 14 years of service. John was a Freemason with the Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge, received a gifted letter from Gov. William Donald Schaefer for his dedication in the 1990 Maryland Days. Amongst other recognitions, he believed in commitment to his country, state and family. John enjoyed racing, old cars, fishing, hunting, dancing and his dogs. But above everything his family came first. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and friend. John is preceded in death by is parents, Minnie & Alvin Reinhardt; daughter, Kimberly Reinhardt; along with his very close friends/family Mary & Lucky Warner and Charles Smallwood. John is survived by his loving wife, Iris Reinhardt; daughters: Karen Shifflett (Duane), Kimberly Schneider (Earl), and Lisa Schoener (David); grandchildren: Joseph Sarro III (Samantha), Jessica Kinsley (Michael), Nicole Holston, Andrew Holston (Brittney), Joshua Shifflett Sr. (Tiffany), Ellie Miller (Matthew), Christopher Schlichting (Christa), and Nicholas Schlichting; great-grandchildren: Trey, Robbie, Makayla, Jesse, Emmalyn, Riley, Cole, Callie, Gavin, Madysen, Gracie, Kendyl, Joshua Jr., Jaydon, Spencer, and Athena.
