John Kitting, 74, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in his home. Born October 17, 1950 in Lewistown, PA he was the son of the late David C. and Esther “Mim” (Garman) Kitting.

He was a graduate of Lewistown High School with the Class of 1968. John then went on to obtain his degree in computer science from Williamsport Area Community College. He was employed as a computer programmer for Electronic Data Systems, Camp Hill, PA and then retired from Hagemeyer North American, Charleston, SC. John also taught and tutored GED classes in Charleston and in Chambersburg.

John was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg and Branch Creek Senior Center, Shippensburg, PA. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, bowling, playing baseball and softball, collecting coins, and playing card games. John was a competitive guy in everything he did; together he and his wife won a senior corn hole tournament. John was a supporter of the MAGA movement. 

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan (Goldberg) Kitting who he married June 19, 1994; four daughters, Amy Whitworth (Mark) of Marysville, PA, Shelly Fulton (Todd) of Enola, PA, Steph Kitting (Nick Canfield) of Newport, PA, and Toni Sprague (Frank) of Manchester, PA; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Dave Kitting, Joan Ort, Pat Evans, and Liza Putsavage; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife MaryBeth (Cubbison) Kitting; two siblings, Peggy Silks and Richard “Dick” Kitting; and two brothers-in-law Ben "Spook" Evans and Robert Putsavage. 

John truly loved the Lord, his family and his friends.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 18, 2024 in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, PA. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
