John L. “Jack” Davis, age 91, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Born in Chambersburg, PA on July 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Ida Mae Myers Davis.

Mr. Davis was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jack worked as an engineer and draftsman for Pangborn in Hagerstown for 39 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of King Street Church in Chambersburg and the Greencastle VFW Post 6319. Jack enjoyed wood working, building things, taking walks in any weather, and mowing his yard. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are three children, Kathy Knoll (husband Randall), Michael Davis, and John Davis (wife Michelle); six grandchildren, Christopher Knoll (wife Beth), Jeremy Knoll, Samuel Knoll (wife Erin), Randi Head (husband Josh), Aaron Davis, and Taylor Davis; nine great grandchildren, Sophie, Elise, Jonathon, Levi, David, Cailyn, Caden, Cale and Christian; and a sister, Ida “Dolly” Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary C. Davis on January 14, 1999, two grandchildren, three brothers, Harry, Donald and Robert Davis; and four sisters, Mildred Berger, Betty Sellers, June McLaughlin, and Louise Gontz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA, where military honors will be rendered.
