John “Jack” E. Lake, 93, of Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday evening, October 12, 2024, in Sidney, Ohio. Jack was the loving husband of the late Doris E. Lake, his wife for more than 63 years.

Born on July 20, 1931, in Salina, New York, Jack was the son of the late Ellis R. Lake and Dorothy E. Lewis.

Jack entered the Army National Guard while in high school. Upon graduation, he served three and a half years in the United States Air Force where he received training as a radio repair technician and served in Japan and Korea during the Korean War.

After receiving an honorable discharge, Jack attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he began a career in aeronautical engineering.

In 1974, Jack and his family moved to Hagerstown, Maryland where Jack began working for Fairchild Industries and became active members of Hagerstown Bible Church. He and Doris also owned and operated Lake Specialties and Laminating for 45 years. Jack enjoyed working on electronics and gadgets of all types.

Jack is survived by five daughters, Debbie Kohl, Judy Keene and husband Scott, Linda Small and husband Tim, Patty Keene and husband James, and Barbara Heinlein and husband Bruce; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Harrison.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the funeral arrangements for the family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, at Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Avenue, Hagerstown, beginning at 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am. The Reverend Tim Small will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
