John Eugene Walck, age 91, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 22, 2024. Born January 9, 1933, in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late J. Albert and Thelma May Speilman Walck.
Mr. Walck lived his entire life in Greencastle and had attended Greencastle High School. Mr. Walck worked proudly for Hagerstown Canteen Vending Service for 50 years, retiring in 2003. He was a life member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association and a member of the National AARP and Greencastle Senior Center. He enjoyed the outdoors, trap shooting, and collecting trains.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 73 years, Esther G. Hykes Walck, whom he married on September 23, 1950, two children, Larry Eugene Walck (wife Faith) of Greencastle, PA and Lori Ann Walck of Broad Run, VA; three grandchildren, Gregory Eugene Walck, Eric Lynn Walck, and Markia Elizabeth Walck Smith; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mariann Walck in 1958 and siblings, Louise Zeis, A. Richard Walck, and Jaye E. Walck.
Funeral services and interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. The family requests the omission of flowers.
