Mr. John E. Rock, 77, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Born May 7, 1947, in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Ernest N. and Priscilla A. (Cournoyer) Rock.
He graduated from Leicester High School, Leicester, MA, with the class of 1964, and earned his B.S. Degree in Education from Worcester State College, graduating with the class of 1968.
He served with the Massachusetts National Guard for 10 years.
He married Gail F. (Myers) Rock Nov. 15, 1985, in Berkley Heights, NJ
John most recently had worked alongside his son at Rock Material Handling, until retiring in 2018, when he and his wife, Gail, moved to Greencastle, PA.
He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Greencastle.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to audio books and the companionship of his dog, Ginger.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: John W. Rock of Sea Bright, NJ, Beth M. Gallic, and her husband, Shawn of Gillette, NJ, Gregory M. Rock, and his wife, Renee`, of Gambrills, MD, and Eileen P. Falk, and her husband, Thomas of Hillsborough, NJ, James E. Rock, and his wife, Sarah of Chambersburg, PA, Thomas A. Rock of Greencastle, PA, Mary Rose Rock of Crofton, MD, and Megan G. Morrell and her husband, Zachary, of Waynesboro, PA; 19 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and brother and sister in laws.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen T. (Tunney) Rock, and two sons, Matthew J. Rock, and Christopher T. Rock and a brother, Philp Rock.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 395 S. Ridge Avenue, Greencastle, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 24, 2024, celebrated by Fr. Augusty Valomchalil. Inurnment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, PA, on Sunday Evening, June 23rd.
For those unable to make the service in Greencastle, a celebration of life service will be held in New Jersey at a date to be announced.
