John E. Burkholder Jr., 79, of Chambersburg, PA passed away November 27th, 2023. Born on October 14th, 1944 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John E. Burkholder Sr., and Dorothy M. (Yocum) Burkholder.

He was a graduate of St. Thomas Senior High School with the class of 1962. John was employed as a Service Manager for Forrester Lincoln for 15 years. He retired in 1989. John was a member of AACA Museum Inc.

John enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren, going to car museums, car shows, and car races. John drove dirt track for many years in the car #77. John enjoyed classic cars, he owned several of his own including his favorite, “Bessie” a 1955 Ford Fairlane.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly (Walls) Burkholder; two sons, Doug Burkholder and wife Monica, Darryl Burkholder and wife Sally; five grandchildren, Randy Burkholder (Amber), Kayla Gartrell (David), Kristin Burkholder, Zac Smith (Leigha), Courtney Smith (Ronnie); four great grandchildren, Haidyn, Harlee, Brayten and Mallorie Smith; a sister, Shirley Iser, a brother William Burkholder; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa (Burkholder) Smith and a brother, Ray Burkholder.

The family would like to give a special, “Thank You so kindly”, to the hospice nurses Brandy, Amanda, and Brenda for all of their kindness, patience, and compassion during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 PM, Friday, December 8, 2023 in West Side Brethren in Christ Church, 2665 Lincoln Way W, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
