Jeffrey N. “Jeff” Sams, 47, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Waynesboro Hospital. He was surrounded by the love of his family and close friends following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 27, 1979, in La Plata, MD, Jeff was the son of Frank Sams, Jr. of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Alice (Clark) “Vickie” Sams of Lexington Park, MD. He grew up in Maryland and graduated from Chopticon High School in Morganza with the Class of 1997.
Jeff proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1999 until February 2011. Following his military service, he built a fulfilling career as an Aircraft Structural Technician and worked for the Sierra Nevada Corporation in Hagerstown, MD. Jeff took immense pride in his craftsmanship and deeply appreciated the career opportunities and lifelong relationships he built along the way. It was also through his work that he met his loving wife, Lisa M. (True) Sams. Bound by an unconditional love for many years, Jeff and Lisa were officially wed on June 30, 2026.
Jeff’s family was his ultimate source of joy, and he treasured every moment spent making memories with his wife and sons. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Jeff is survived by his two young sons, Jeffrey N. “L.J.” Sams, Jr. and Evan A. Sams, along with their mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Jason James, all of Mechanicsville, MD. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Adryan Shives (Rachel) of Hancock, MD, and Laken Shives of Goldsboro, NC; three grandchildren, Paisley Shives, T.J. Lawson, and Cooper Lawson; his siblings, Michael “Mike” Sams and Cathy McBride, both of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Crystal Stanton (Doug) of Apex, NC; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA. Military honors will be proudly conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599 of Chambersburg. Burial will remain private. The family will receive friends on Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M.
