Mrs. Jean A. (Ringer) Fleagle, 89, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026 in her home.

Born May 20, 1936 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Anna W. (Schmitz) Ringer.

Mrs. Fleagle was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1954.

She and her husband of 70 years, Mr. Walter E. Fleagle, were married April 14, 1956 in St. Andrew Catholic Church. They lived in Rouzerville prior to moving to their current residence on Linda Lane in 1966.

Following high school, Mrs. Fleagle was employed as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot from 1954-1957 and later for Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown. Following a time as a homemaker she returned to work part-time in 1968 as a teacher’s aide with Mowrey Elementary School. In 1976 she worked full time as a secretary, also at Mowrey Elementary School. In 1980 she went to work as a secretary for Waynesboro Area School District in the personnel department until her retirement in 1993.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church where she was active in Parish Council. She was also a member of Mom’s Helping Hands with Waynesboro Hospital.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Fleagle is survived by three sons, Daniel G. (Stephanie) Fleagle of Mechanicsburg, James E. (Pam) Fleagle of Thurmont, MD and Bradley E. (Carol) Fleagle Camp Hill, PA; ten grandchildren; Matthew Fleagle, Luke Fleagle, Nichole (Michael) Fleagle Bethurem, Lauren (Caleb) Horvat , Elizabeth Johnson, Rachel Fleagle, Greta Fleagle, and Jacob Fleagle, Susan Hahn, Michael Hahn; eleven great-grandchildren; Brayden Johnson, Lilyana Horvat, Cheyenne Horvat, Jackson Horvat, Sadie Horvat, Serenity Horvat, Olivia Johnson, Aalanna Johnson, Maci Johnson, Ryder Johnson and Cameron Horvat ; one sister, Mary Lou White (Rudy) of Ringwood, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony in 1957; an infant daughter, Lisa in 1965; one sister, Barbara Ann Niedentohl; and four brothers, Joseph Richard Ringer, Daniel Henry Ringer, James Earl Ringer and John William Ringer.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 8, 2026 in Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 12 North Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.  

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, PA is handling the arrangements.
