It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James E. “Jim” Verdier, age 56, at home in his sleep, on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Born on May 30, 1968, he was the son of the late Joyce T. Hoover Verdier and the late Charles James Verdier.

Jim attended Chambersburg Area Senior High School. For 31 years, he served as owner/operator of C&J Roofing and for 10 years for Aces N 8s Armory.

A lifelong resident of the Fayetteville area, he loved the outdoors and lived life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper, and loved shooting his guns. Jim loved everyone around him, he was fun and always had everyone laughing.

He is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Michelle May Bakner; a son Eric Bailey and fiancé Katelyn Gladfelter; two daughters, Rachel Willis and husband Jason, and Tia Naugle and husband Cody; seven grandchildren, Emersyn Bailey, Krue Bailey, Willow Bailey, Myles Willis, Addison Naugle, Ella Naugle, and Mia Naugle; a sister, Eva McKula; a brother, David Verdier; and numerous nieces and nephews including Tyler Querry for whom he admired dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.
