Mr. James A. “Jimmy” Cannan, 57, of Waynesboro, PA died Sunday morning, May 19, 2024, in his home.

Born December 18, 1966 in Washington DC, he is the son of the late Billy L. and Nancy (Diffenderfer) Cannan.

He grew up in Glen Burnie, MD and moved to Waynesboro in 2007.

He and his wife of over 13 years, Cheryl L. (Tallent) Cannan, were married on March 28, 2011, in Towson, MD.

Jimmy was a skilled automotive technician and worked in the industry most of his life. He is an outgoing guy who makes friends easily and enjoys the simple things in life. When he wasn’t working on the “real” cars, he loved sitting down and putting together a model car. He is also a fan of NASCAR. Most of all, he loved and found comfort in being with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shaina R. Thompson of Waynesboro; one grandson, Kemper D. Cramer; a brother, Billy L. Cannan, Jr.; and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro, PA, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

There will not be a public viewing, however Jimmy’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Wednesday morning, in the funeral home.
