Mr. Jack R. (Lester) Ditto, 86, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, in his home.
Born September 11, 1939, in Keedysville, MD, he was the son of the late William H. and Mary C. (Holmes) Ditto.
He graduated from South Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown, MD, with The Class of 1957.
He and his wife, Bonnie L. (Nealis) Ditto were married July 30, 1960, in the Church of the Brethren, Hagerstown.
Mr. Ditto worked as a lineman for the city of Hagerstown directly out of high school for 9 years. He then worked as a lead lineman with Potomac Edison/Allegheny Power for 31 years. He retired after 31 years of service with them. He also drove a school bus for Allegheny County, MD for 14 years, Greencastle Antrim School District for 4 years, and Bob Friese, Chambersburg for 4 years.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Greencastle. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He played guitar and sang Bluegrass gospel music with Old Fashion Gospel Singers for 14 years where he got the opportunity to play for many churches and nursing homes throughout the surrounding area. He was also a DJ for WKSL, Bluegrass Gospel Music Program. He also enjoyed hunting. Above all else, he took great pride in the loving family that he created.
In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Denise Howard and her husband Todd of Hedgesville, WV, and Tracie Harris and her husband David of Falling Waters, WV; one son-in-law, Brian Keefer of Greencastle, PA; four grandchildren, Thomas Howard and his wife Laurel, Jonathan Keefer and his wife Lindsey, Jennifer Nunemaker and her husband Chad, and Emily Keefer; eight great-grandchildren, Ian Howard, Katie Keefer, Chloe Howard, Jackson Keefer, Eva Howard, Samuel Nunemaker, and Hannah Nunemaker; one brother Jeffrey W. Ditto; and an extended host of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Keefer, one great-grandson, Jacob A. Nunemaker, and one half-sister, Peg Crummit.
A celebration of Mr. Ditto’s life will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle with Nathan Hykes officiating. A light luncheon will be provided immediately following the services Thursday in the church.
Burial in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Hagerstown will be private.
