Mr. Harold L. “Whitey” Heefner, 91, of Waynesboro, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital.

Born December 3, 1932 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late B. Wilbur and Sarah (Vanderau) Heefner.

Mr. Heefner began his working career at Chambersburg Paper Mill. He later made his living as a self-employed carpenter and mason for many years. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by Brechbill and Helman Construction, Chambersburg for five years.

He enjoyed going to the Parlor House and visiting with the waitresses. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. A man who took pride in a good day’s work, he considered working his hobby.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Doris M. (Biesecker) Heefner; daughter, Debra S. Ramsey and her husband, Bill of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Ian Ramsey (Megan) and Chris Ramsey; four sisters, Peggy Myers of Greencastle, Janet Stoops of Waynesboro, Martha Miller of Hagerstown and Katherine Heefner of Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Wilbur Heefner, Jr., Louise Forsythe, Donald Heefner, Lois Donmoyer, Dorothy Greenlee, Frances Cordell and Zaida Heefner.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 16, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Dave Besecker officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Monday morning, in the funeral home.
